Screenshots taken from NYTimes Interactive graphic. While not the most recent unemployment data, I liked these maps because you see the the location of the house bubble and the manufacturing in the U.S. and the severity of the unemployment in many of those areas.
Housing Bubble
Unemployment rate in counties where home prices rose to at least 175% of 2000 levels.
Manufacturing
Unemployment rate in counties where at least 25 percent of earnings came from manufacturing, 1998-2000.
