Gasoline in the American Budget

by Catherine on June 1, 2008

Screenshots from a New York Times Interactive Graphic by Matthew Bloch, Shan Carter and Amanda Cox that shows the different parts of the average consumer’s budget and the change in price (inflation) over the last year. I have highlighted gasoline: share of spending is 5.2% with a price increase of 26%. If you go to the Interactive Graphic you can zoom on different categories (as you can see from the second screenshot).
