Here I have mapped the cost of owning a home as % of household income (taken from the 2000 Census). This is calculated by dividing the median cost of owning a home by the household income for a given area. If you would like to see a more detailed version go to Social Explorer and choose “Housing” from the second drop down then “Median Owner Costs: % of Income” and select the magnifying glass to zoom in on a specific county.

Forbes has introduced a new ranking this year for Hip-Hop Cash Kings. I assume this means their Highest Paid Celebrities list is very popular since they are branching out into other subgenera. So what make someone a Hip-Hop Cash King? Sources of income include: running their own record labels; producing tracks and beats for other artists; endorsement deals; selling apparel, ringtones, video games and a line of fiction.

I added the graph to my Income and Wealth Swivel group.

Technical difficulties due to a glitch at my ISP meant my blog was not available for the last 3 days. Hopefully, your access to tasty income data visualizations will not be interrupted again :)

Based on some comments on the United States Income Inequality Map, I am posting another United States Income Map, this time showing the Median Household income in the US by Census tract. I created it using a very cool tool: Social Explorer.

Blog.
My blog went down this weekend due to a very large spike in visitors from a link on Reddit’s home page. While this site has received links from Reddit in the past, it was a jump of 13,000 visitor on Saturday that cause my ISP to temporarily bring the site down and move it to another server. Most the site is working again except for the Contact Us page.
